Historical Diving in Argentina
Only a few days before writing this new chapter (November 5 2015) the Argentine Prefectura Naval (Coast Guard) ordered that in order to maintain the Tradition of Diving, 2 Standard Diving Equipments must be prepared for Training Purposes. Already some 10 years ago hard hat dives were performed in the diving tank of the Argentine Coast Guard; a pre 1942 Morse MK5 helmet was used, completed with USN weight belt and shoes and an Italian Pirelli 12 bolt diving suit. The air supply was provided from a buffer tank connected with a German Dräger umbilical and a ‘Commercial’ US valve. The Argentine Coast Guard is intend to start a divers training with 2 fully refurbished Hard Hat Apparatus in 2016 and we hope to receive lots of photo’s and youtube links to share at this website. Special thanks to José María Alonso Diaz for his kind help with this chapter. José María and partner Guillermo Ghiotto have a Diving Website in Argentina: www.enbas.com.ar
