In 1891 Stove designed a new way to connect a suit to a diving helmet. Until then it was either the 3 bolt flange which clamped the suit between the two flanges, or the 12 bolt breastplate where the suit was clamped to with the help of 4 brass straps. Stove used the collar of the suit as a gasket between the breastplate and bonnet of the helmet instead. The photograph below shows a Stoves equipment in use in Denmark. The actual pump at the photograph is known to be part of a collection of diving equipment in Denmark.
